Asynchronous MCP Tasks

Async MCP tasks panel showing a queued layersql-query with a task ID next to the tasks tool actions get, result, and cancel

Slow queries no longer have to beat your assistant's timeout. Pass execution: "async" to layersql-query and Layers queues the query, then returns a task_id right away. Synchronous mode is still the default.

The new tasks tool checks status, reads the finished result, lists recent tasks, and cancels one you no longer need. A completed result is the same payload a synchronous call returns, and it stays available for 24 hours.

Add an idempotency_key to retry safely without queueing duplicates. New search-batch runs now return a task_id too, alongside their existing run_id.
