Collaborative Editing for AI Agents

Two live cursors on a merchandising rule's product grid — a teammate's cursor labeled Jake, and an AI agent's cursor mid-move toward a highlighted product tile

AI assistants and agents connected to Layers through MCP can now edit merchandising rules and sort orders the same safe way your team already does — with live presence, a shared document, and conflict-checked patches instead of blind overwrites. An agent announces itself on the resource it's viewing, then applies small, atomic changes to fields, pins, or banners that are checked against the latest revision before they save, so a teammate editing the same rule at the same time is never silently overwritten.

This replaces the previous direct write actions on the merchandising rules and sort orders tools, which are no longer supported — if you have an agent or integration built on those, it will need to move to the new collaborative editing flow.
