You can now control which product variant is shown by default on collection pages using Default Selected Options with the Browse API.

What this enables

• Default to in-season colors (e.g. “Black” or “Cream” for winter collections)
• Pre-select the most popular size in apparel collections
• Highlight preferred materials like “Leather” or “Cotton”

If no matching variant is found, we’ll seamlessly fall back to the standard default. And if shoppers apply filters, those always take priority.

This update helps ensure customers see the right version of a product first—reducing friction and improving engagement across collection pages.
