Upload Custom Images for Featured Media

Use any image as the collection tile — even one that doesn't exist on the product.

Featured media overrides now support custom image uploads. When overriding the image for a pinned product, you can upload an image from your device instead of selecting from existing product media. The image is stored in your Shopify Files library and the CDN URL is used as the override.

  • Campaign assets — Feature a promotional graphic or branded banner without adding it to the product in Shopify
  • Lifestyle imagery — Use a seasonal or editorial photo that lives outside your product catalog
  • Persistent storage — Uploaded images are stored in Shopify Files and won't be removed during product syncs

Supported formats: JPEG, PNG, WebP, and GIF. Maximum file size is 20 MB.
